Happy Holidays from SpaceLab Detroit

Thanks to you, our SpaceLab Detroit community is growing

We started our MeetUp group in February, and we’ve grown to 265 members! Meetup topics revolved around innovation, technology, creativity and disruption for the building industry. Get the details on our MeetUp site. Here are some highlights:

MeetUp member Randall Ridley demonstrated a virtual reality app he’s developing for the AEC industry and received great feedback from the group.
Member Ken Crutcher, RA shared his secrets for integrating online productivity tools and apps in his firms work processes.
David King, a newcomer to Detroit, shared his vision for an abandoned church that he purchased. Stay tuned for updates on his progress.
We hosted Pop-up Coworking. Members supported each other, giving advice on business endeavors, and there were lively discussions on building industry topics.

We hosted a Napkin Sketch Competition with the Detroit Creative Corridor Center (DC3) at their July Drinks X Design event at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
Architecture Week was in April, and we celebrated at the Rattlesnake Club! We’ll add Engineers Week, Women in Construction Week and many other celebrations in 2017!
Middle and high school students were introduced to design, engineering and planning through the Just Right Living Project – our collaboration with POWEROrg Math. See more below.
Soon we’ll be hosting our meetups and events in our new Coworking Space – planned for launch in March of 2017. Get more info here

Wishing you all the joys of the season,
